The court-appointed independent member of the commission redrawing the state’s legislative districts for the next decade is siding with the Democrats’ proposed map. Rutgers University political scientist Alan Rosenthal and his staff relayed his decision to the commission’s five Democrats and five Republicans and their delegations, including GOP Gov. Chris Christie.
According to news sources all of Salem County will remain in the Third Legislative District and Gloucester County will see three towns added and three taken away. At least four incumbents in the Assembly are moved into districts with an unfamiliar constituency, per details shared with a coalition of minority organizations. Among them is Assemblyman Jack Conners, D-Camden; Assemblyman Reed Gusciora, D-Mercer; Assemblyman Joseph Malone III, R-Burlington; and Assemblyman Kevin Ryan, D-Essex.The full map will be released at Sunday’s vote. http://bit.ly/eFpIHd
