Trash collection services begin this week with Republic Services. Residents must have their trash and recycling at the curb by 7AM for pick up. Residents may place their trash and recycling at their curb anytime after 3PM on the day before pick up. Trash & Recycling Deal to share trash services finalized:Trash collection in Merchantville, Gloucester Township and Cherry Hill will cost almost 10 percent less under a five-year joint contract officials announced Wednesday. Elected officials from Merchantville said they welcomed cooperative deals with other groups and municipalities. The contract between the participants and Mount Laurel based Republic Services, a national trash collection and recycling corporation, totals $28.6 million and begins Jan. 1. Merchantville will save $50,000 in the first year of the contract primarily from layoffs in the eight-employee public works department.
