School budget remains intact

Most municipal governing bodies mandated further cuts to the spending plans in rejected school budgets they remained intact in Camden County’s Clementon, Merchantville and Chesilhurst. Borough activist Gail Ford thinks Merchantville’s council should have made a token cut, although the budget was defeated by only five votes, 203-198. While Council member, Anthony Perno, stated board members and residents worked together to identify possible budget cuts in the one-school, K-8 district that would lower the $4.25 million tax levy and came up empty-handed.
