PUBLIC NOTICE: Neighborhood Watch

Over the past few days there have been two illegal house entries. One was a break in, the other was an unlocked door. In both cases neighbors observed several young people in the area of the houses in question. No one called the police. It appeared the in one case the people broke in and stayed in the vacant house for sometime. The police were not called until the people left. If the caller had notified the police immediately instead of waiting, they could have been caught inside.

In the other case, the house was left unlocked and that made it very easy for the people involved to walk in and take whatever they wanted. In this case, several young people were observed “hanging around” the area. If the police were called and told about the people just hanging around, they could have checked them out. Maybe it was nothing, but maybe a crime could have been prevented by having the police in the area. By calling when you observe a stranger in the area, the word will get out that the residents are aware and the police are always close by. Please remember, the police are NOT asking you to check out anyone. All they need is for neighbors to be aware of what is going on around them. Call the police. Help them stop crime before it happens by letting them know when something unusual is observed, or heard. You are not “bothering” the police. They are there for your protection. Let them know what’s happening.

A day light burglary took place on Woodbine Ave. between Hamilton Ave and West End Ave. The incident occurred sometime between 8:45 AM and 12:45 PM. Entry was gained by kicking in a basement window. A white female with reddish/ blonde hair was observed in a rust color Toyota talking on a cell phone. She was in the immediate area of the break in. It is not known if she was involved, but could be a person of interest. If you observe someone in your neighborhood that appears to be sitting quietly in a car, or talking on a cell, call police and let them investigate. If you hear glass breaking call the police immediately.

Neighborhood Watch members: The attached is a picture of a vehicle that is possibly involved in burglaries in the area. A Hispanic female was observed apparently talking on a cell phone while sitting in the vehicle close to an incident in Merchantville on Woodbine Av. Cherry Hill and Pennsauken police departments are reporting several burglaries in their towns that are near our border. There have been different vehicles observed. Please be very observant and immediately call the police if you see or hear anything strange or unusual.
