Camden accepts grant for firefighters

City Council approved resolutions in a caucus meeting which accepted approximately $5.1 million of federal dollars earmarked for hiring firefighters. In quick succession, council then agreed to insert the grant furnished by the Federal Emergency Management Agency into the city’s budget as an emergency appropriation. The two-year Staffing for Adequate Fire and Emergency Response grant splits the funding over two years with the caveat that the city pick up the tab for those firefighters in the third year. http://bit.ly/fXnkh3
