Brunton resigns from Council assignments

During the final meeting of 2009, in a surprising turn of events, Mark Brunton submitted a letter to Mayor and Council resigning from his assigned responsibilities as an elected official for public works and sewers. Mr. Brunton stated that he no longer wanted to be in charge of the Department of Public Works. He laid the blame for performance failures and department deficiencies in leaf collection and snow removal on insufficient and broken equipment rather than oversight and planning. His resignation from the Sewer Utility is the result of an unsettled personal matter between Mr. Brunton and the Borough. During the public portion of the meeting former Councilwoman Agnes Madden voiced upset with the lack of planning and execution by the Public Works department and Mr. Brunton during leaf collection and snow removal this year.
