Merchantville has been selected as an Interdistrict Public School Choice District for the 2011-12 school year. The School Choice Program allows non-resident students to enroll at Merchantville School at no cost to parents/guardians. Merchantville School will be accepting up to sixteen students, grades first through eighth. Individuals selected will become full-time students
for their elementary school experience. To be considered for acceptance, applicants must be eligible to enroll as students for the 2011-12 school year and live within twenty miles of Merchantville School. Students will be admitted to Merchantville School through a random, unbiased process. Student applications will be initially screened for completeness. If the number of applicants exceed the number of seats available in Merchantville Elementary School a lottery will be conducted. Once the available seats have been filled additional lottery numbers will be drawn in order to establish a “Wait List” in the event that seats become available at a later date. If you are interested in having your child enroll as a member of the Merchantville School student body, you must submit a Notice of Intent to Participate in the Interdistrict Public School Choice Program to your district of residence by May 2, 2011. After receiving notification from your district of residence, you must submit an Application for Enrollment to the Merchantville School District. These applications must be received in our district by May 16th, 2011. Regulations provide that if you do not receive a notification from your district of residence, your child may participate in the school choice program. Other information regarding timelines and parental requirements can be found on our district website under the tab School Choice or a phone message may be left at (856) 663-1091 X-11.
