Included as new business on the agenda for the 11/14/11 Council meeting was a resolution to approve the Joint insurance fund TULIP (Tenant User Liability Insurance Program) for Community Center rentals. This program allows individuals and groups who use or rent municipally owned facilities to protect themselves and their guests at events held in these facilities.
The cost for TULIP is based upon the type of event, number of people attending, event length, and several other factors. Coverage for most events is between $75 and $150 for $1 million of protection. A certificate of insurance then is sent to the tenant user. A copy is sent to the city, and the city is listed as an additional insured.
