High winds hit S.J. hard; trees power lines fall

High winds wreaked havoc throughout the region Saturday, knocking down trees and power lines and causing numerous electrical outages. Numerous other trees and wires came down in several other towns.The Haddon Township tree, ripped from the roots on East Greenwood Street off Kings Highway, fell just inches from a house. No injuries were reported. Also in parts of Cherry Hill and Merchantville along Cuthbert Boulevard and Route 38, houses and businesses — including the Courier-Post — lost power around 2:45 p.m. Power was restored about 90 minutes later. http://bit.ly/gWf6C3
