County lays off and furloughs employees

Camden County submitted layoffs to the State Civil Service Commission which include 261 employees. 77 cuts are from the county health and human services departments; 67 from buildings and operations; and 59 from the county’s corrections department which oversees the county jail. The plan also includes cuts from the public safety department and the county clerk’s office. Layoffs will take effect April 4th. The county plans to furlough its remaining civilian employees every other Friday for the remainder of the year beginning in March.
