This is exactly what Merchantvillians and surrounding citizenry have done for over 8 decades. In the early 1920s, a brand new brick building was erected at 9 South Centre Street. From its initial occupant, the First National Bank of Merchantville to PNC banking services have been housed at this location. Shortly, PNC will move into their new home at Maple & Chapel Avenues. Before the final departure, PNC and the Merchantville Historical Society plan to host a nostalgic evening in the Bank’s lobby. On display will be a combined collection of early bank documents, history and other memorabilia. Anyone having a bank treasure from the past, such as old bank deposit books, Christmas club folders, bank give-aways, etc., should bring them, so others can enjoy a comprehensive journey down memory lane.
The evening is opened not just to MHS members but to all who wish to attend. Light refreshments will be served. The doors will open on Friday, November 21st, at 6:30 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. Enter the Merchantville of yesteryear as you meet and greet neighbors of today!
