Republicans rebuke plans for town centre and brew pub 10.31.10
GOP handout criticizes Borough Council for revenue loss in an unsuccessful attempt to bring a brew pub into the old PNC building and continued efforts at redeveloping the bank and TCE property. The GOP calling for revisions to an apartment redevelopment plan that has not been submitted and does not exist so they can create an “attractive town centre” plan.

The team of Frank North, Anthony Perno and Steve Volkert promote their message and candidacy on a flyer about how they have done More with Less during the past three years. It highlights how they have reduced spending from 2008-2010, received over $2 millon in grant funds and cut capital debt service by $150,000 from 2006-2010. Anthony Perno sets the record straight outlining $325,000 in grant monies that will be used for upgrades to our present bike path and to extend the path from Center St. to Cove Rd. Republicans level accusations of “Conflict“ at Perno and Dems 10.28.10
Rogers, Moore and Matukonis accuse Councilman Perno of conflict of interest and the Democratic candidates of putting themselves before taxpayers with “pet projects”. They promise to increase transparency and cap property tax increases and spending at 2%.
GOP editorial criticizes redevelopment 10.27.10
Candidate Jim Moore, Steve Rogers and Pam Matukonis state that they will not purchase any more properties and/or sell Borough owned properties. He proposes that borough government should be creating a downtown environment that encourages business owners and entrepreneurs to take risks, start and expand businesses.

FRANK M. NORTH (D) for Mayor Frank, age 68, has been Mayor of the Borough of Merchantville since 2006 and served on Council from 1995-2005. Frank moved to Merchantville in 1976 and lives there with his wife, Lynn. He and Lynn have five children, eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He is the President of S & N Group, Inc. and Vice President of Bradley-Sciocchetti, Inc. |
| STEVE ROGERS (R) for Mayor Steve Rogers is a proud husband, father of two, and career United States Marine, attaining the rank of Master Sergeant. In civilian life, Steve is an active Knight of Columbus and member of St. Peters Roman Catholic Church. He currently works as a cottage-training technician at a South Jersey home for disabled adults. |
| ANTHONY PERNO, III (D) for Council Anthony, age 34, is an incumbent candidate for Borough Council. He and his wife, Jennifer, are raising two young sons, have lived in Merchantville since 2006 and reside at 15 Morris Street. He is the President and CEO, Cooper’s Ferry Development Associaton, Inc. where he has worked since 1999. He is a native of Lindenwold and Member of Sacred Heart Parish. |
| PAM MATUKONIS (R) for Council Pam is a departmental administrator at a local university and has her Master’s Degree in Administration from St. Joseph’s University. She has lived in town for the last 23 years and was previously active in the school system, serving three years as Treasurer of the Merchantville PTA. |
