On Friday, February 20th, Russell T. Mutschler, owner of Prudential Lamplighter Real Estate closed the doors to his business after more than 60 years of brokerage service to Merchantville and neighboring communities. Located in the lower level of his house at 36 Alexander Avenue, Prudential Lamplighter has been a Prudential Affilliate since 1988 and was regarded as Merchantville’s premier real estate resource.Prudential’s offices also served the surrounding area including Pennsauken, Cherry Hill, Haddonfield, Cinnaminson, Evesham Twp., Maple Shade and Mt. Laurel. His care and professionalism, as well as his dedication and committment to his business and the greater real estate community won Russ and Prudential many accolades over the years. In 2004 he was recognized by The New Jersey Association of Realtors as a new member of the NJAR® Quarter Century Club.
Affectionately known as a local celebrity, Russ has lived more than 85 years in Merchantville and remains an active member of town, school, church and charitable organizations. Russ has been a tireless cheerleader for our Borough and, despite some health challenges during the past few years, could always be found at any meeting impacting our future or any events that promoted our community. There’s no doubt that if you ever need someone to man a table for the MBPA, hand out soda and pretzels for Rotary, promote concerts at Trinity, collect donations for the Lions or run the MHS alumni reunion, Russ is your guy!
