The student starts the iPad easily, chooses an application, and is involved in a fun, game-like educational activity within minutes. Often times the student is not aware that he or she is learning. The iPad may be used to help these students with reading skills and advanced math skills. They are also able to use the iPad to learn content. The iPads are being used to improve reading fluency, speech-to-text applications help the reluctant writer, and applications like Science 360 are putting up-to-date information in the hands of aspiring scientists. Two iPads will make a huge difference in the lives of his middle school students.

Joe Inverso, a 1997 graduate of CCHS teaches at Thomas H Dudley Elementary School in Camden. Many of his students don’t have the benefit of access to any technology due to financial restraints of their families. His Middle School students are a group of excitable kids that love to learn in new and fun ways. Their school sits in the middle of what is considered one of the most dangerous city’s in the United States. Joe is raising funds for two iPads through a “teachers ask” website – donorschoose.org. Joe sees the iPad as an effective tool for his middle school students that provides access to technology that is fun, engaging and educational.
