St. Baldrick’s Celebration

On Sunday, March 30th, several members of the Niagara Fire Company of Merchantville shaved their heads for a great  cause. The St. Baldrick’s Foundation began 8 years ago to raise awareness and funds to conquer kids’ cancer. Yearly, this celebration coincides with the St. Patrick’s Day celebration and is  now  celebrated  worldwide.  The  Collingswood  Fire  Department hosts  this  annual  event,  with  participants  including  firefighters, police and EMT from all over Camden County. For  our  team  from  Merchantville,  the  day  began  as  a  breakfast fundraiser  open  to  the  public  at  the  Niagara  Firehouse.  Hot  pancakes, eggs,  sausage  and  bacon  were  served  and  last-minute  funds  were raised  totally  over  $575.  The  breakfast  costs  were  donated  by  the Niagara  Fire  Company  Membership.  They  then  ventured  to  the Collingswood Scottish Rite Auditorium joining the other teams for the shaving. The Niagara Fire Company team raised over $2000 with the all teams’ participating raising over $62,000. Thanks to all those who supported us!
