Loudly and uniformly opposing Gov. Chris Christie’s plan to turn Rutgers-Camden over to Rowan University, more than 650 students, alumni and professors boisterously jammed the overflowing Gordon Theater Thursday on the school’s 40-acre downtown campus.Meanwhile, a professor at Rutgers-Camden Law School said he and his colleagues believe Christie’s plan to force the merger through executive action violates a state statute governing the reorganization of higher education institutions.
The statute, 18A:3B-36, creates an exemption to the Executive Reorganization Act of 1969 that the administration has cited when discussing how it intends to implement plans to transfer Rutgers-Camden to Rowan, according to Williams. http://on.cpsj.com/wNFDSi
