The latest forecasts say a major storm is brewing in the south and has the potential to turn into a winter storm off the New Jersey Coast late Saturday evening, especially north and west of our area. Precipitation is expected to arrive as rain late tonight and continue with no problems into the early afternoon.
Initially, it will be warm enough aloft to produce rain, but as the low pulls away it will turn colder and produce a rain and snow mix. There is a good possibility that all precipitation will turn to all wet snow late tomorrow afternoon or evening before ending. Any snow accumulation on trees when combined with gusty winds could result in down trees and power outages. This is a very unusual storm for this time of year but has the potential to be very bad if it turns just a little colder. Borough and County Departments of Public Works and the Office of Emergency Management are closely monitoring the weather reports.
